The full meaning of IJMB isInterim Joint Matriculation Board (I.J.M.B).  I.J.M.B is a program moderated by Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. IJMB is accepted in almost all the Universities in Nigeria. The primary objective of IJMB is to make it possible for students to gain direct admission into 200level without Joint Admission Matriculation Board (J.A.M.B) examination. I’ll not be wrong to say I.J.M.B is designed to ameliorate problems of admission for candidates seeking admission into Nigeria University instead of JAMB. Some years back Vice chancellors and some of the NUC members in conjunction with the educational regulating body of Nigeria sat together and taught it wise to come up with another strategy through which students can gain admission into higher institution without JAMB. It does not just end there, but it is design in a way to make it better, easier and faster than JAMB. It is easier in the sense that you don’t have to be struggling for admission. It is better in the sense that you gain straight admission into 200 level, and it is faster because you spend just 3years if your course is 4years course and 4years if your course is five years course respectively. IJMB was introduced to put a stop to JAMB wahala. ARE WE WRITING ANY ENTRANCE EXAMINATION?
There is no entrance examination before admission. IJMB is not like JAMB that requires series of examinations before being considered for admission. When you register with IJMB you are automatically a 1000 level student without JAMB. The program last the period of 8months after which you will be issued the certificate to study the course you apply for in any of the school accepting IJMB. During this period you will be receiving lectures. You will be thought all the 100 level courses of your field of study. All these are put together to help you get acquainted with the university environment and curriculum which is where your course outline and syllabus is deduced. After undergoing the program for 8months you will be certified to study your course in any of the Universities accepting IJMB. IJMB is accepted in all private Universities in Nigeria.  It is another form of Direct Entry with the objective of helping students gain admission into 200 level in Nigeria Universities.
